  • How old is Lake View Hotel? How many people live on the island year-round?

    Lake View was built in 1858 and is the oldest continuously operated hotel on Mackinac Island. 2021 marks our 163rd anniversary. Mackinac Island has approximately 400 year-round residents.

  • Where is the Lake View Hotel located? How close are you to the ferry docks?

    We are conveniently located on Main Street, in the heart of downtown Mackinac Island. We are directly across the street from where the Shepler's and Star Line ferry boats arrive. Arnold's ferry service is a couple of blocks down the street.

  • How much are ferry tickets? Where do I park my car? When does the last ferry leave for the Island?

    For the 2020 season, tickets at all ferry lines are $27.00 per adult and $15.00 per child. AAA member prices are $25.00 per adult and $13.00 per child. 2020 prices are subject to change. Each of the ferry lines offers several day-trip or overnight parking options on their property including ample free parking, as well as secured or covered parking. In the off-season, the last boat leaves the island at 4:30 pm. In-season, the last boat leaves for Mackinaw City and St. Ignace generally by 8:30 pm. Check with the ferry boat services for more information.

  • Do you rent bikes? Do you have an area to store bikes?

    The Mackinac Island Bike Shop is located on the Hoban Street side of the hotel. You may make advance reservations with your room booking to ensure availability by calling (906) 847-6337 anytime. Lake View Hotel has bike racks surrounding the back and side of the hotel. Please bring your own lock if you want to secure your bicycle.

  • Do you have any suites or adjoining rooms? Do any of your rooms have balconies?

    We have several large rooms that have separate seating areas and a Presidential Suite with a living room, but none of our guest rooms adjoin to other rooms. Our guest rooms do not have balconies, however, many rooms surround our Atrium and provide lovely views from our interior hallways.

  • Do you have a pool? Do you have an elevator?

    Yes. We have a beautiful, four-story Atrium which encloses an indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, and dry sauna. We also have an elevator to all four levels.

     

  • Do you allow pets?

    Seeing-eye dogs are welcome, though pets are not allowed.

  • Are you open in the winter? When do you start taking reservations?

    Lake View's season runs from early May to late-October, though our reservations office remains open all year. We take reservations year-round. Call toll free (800) 207-7075.

  • Where can we rent horses?

    Riding stables are located one block behind the hotel.

  • Does the island have public beaches?

    Sometimes small beaches form on the north end of the island where you can lay out in the sun and wade into the water.

  • When is the Lilac Festival? What time are fireworks on the 4th of July? When is the best time to come for fall foliage?

    The Lilac Festival takes place in June each year. Call 1-800-4-LILACS for more information regarding this fun-filled annual 10-day event. The island’s 4th of July fireworks begin at 10:00 pm. The best time to come for fall foliage is typically mid to late September.

  • What is there to do at night at the hotel? Do you have babysitting services?

    Sunset bike rides are available with rentals from Mackinac Island Bike Shop. Our pool is open until 10:00 pm. Many people also like to relax on our rocker-lined, covered front porch. We do not offer babysitting services. 

  • What is your age requirement policy?

    Guests must be 21 years or older with photo identification to reserve a room. 

  • What is your smoking policy?

    We are a "clean air" facility, meaning there is no smoking, vaping, or e-cigs permitted in or on our property. A $250 USD cleaning fee will be charged to any guest who violates the smoking policy. 

  • What are your deposit policies?

    Lake View Hotel does not hold rooms without a deposit, which is applied to your final night's stay. Deposit requirements are as follows:

    • 1-3 Night stay require 1 Night Full Deposit of Room Charges 
    • 4 Night or longer stays require 2 Nights Deposit of Room Charges 

    ADVANCE PURCHASE RESERVATIONS: To take advantage of the discounted rates for advance purchase, reservations are required to be paid in full at time of booking. 

  • What are your cancellation policies?

    If it becomes necessary to cancel your reservation, notify us by 3:00 PM, 48 hours prior to your arrival date, and you will receive a full refund of your deposit. All refunds are based on the original reservation date. If you cancel your reservation after 3:00 PM, 48 hours prior to your arrival, your deposit will be forfeited. Please note that certain holidays, yacht race dates and special events require a ONE WEEK cancellation notice. The Mackinac Policy Conference requires a ONE MONTH cancellation notice. Lake View Hotel reserves the right to cancel a reservation at any time by giving written or oral notice of cancellation and refunding any deposit.

    ADVANCE PURCHASE RESERVATIONS: If it becomes necessary to cancel your reservation, you must notify us by 3:00 PM, 14 days prior to your arrival date, and you will receive a full refund of your deposit. All refunds are based on the original reservation date. If you cancel your reservation after 3:00 PM, 14 days prior to your arrival, your

  • What is your credit/ debit policy?

    Debit and Credit cards will be authorized at check-in for the amount of your stay. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged.
